Katy and Houston, Texas Newborn Photography by Denise Cowan Photography » Katy Texas Newborn and Family Photographer

It feels as if it has rained all of March. There were a few glimpses of spring here and there but it hasn’t been near enough for me or these boys! We’re ready for a bit of warmth and sunny days to play outside. After school on this rainy day we were rather bored so I pulled out some art supplies and let the boys exercise their creative sides.:)Ephram spent some time painting himself and seriously considered licking the paint up several times. Oren chose to paint a portrait of a dragon toy. He stressed over his ability to draw and paint it but with a little encouragement he did a really fantastic job.

This has been a long time coming I suppose, Ephram’s first hair cut. I just could not part with those pretty curls until now. We took him to the same person who cut Oren’s for the first few times. For the memory and because Justin was so good with Oren as terrified and all over the place as he was. I had no idea what to expect from Ephram. He is my wild one and SUCH a screamer. I can’t even tell you how much of a screamer. He shocked us by just sitting there, patiently letting Justin cut his long hair. Only wiggling a few times when it tickled his little neck. He was cracking me up too much to feel sad at the time and as much as I smiled going through these photos I also felt that twinge of sadness at how time has flown with him. Thank God we are having another baby or I would be a mess. Well, except for the fact that I cried today while cleaning out his closet of the things that no longer fit and hanging bigger clothes in their place. Either way, forgive the overload of images here, I have my mommy goggles on big time today.

A few weekends ago we celebrated our littlest man’s 2nd birthday. This day arrived much faster than it should have. I believe time flies by faster with second babies. He is growing up too quickly. Thankfully he is still my cuddle bug and loves for me to rock him to sleep at night. We had a very small party but I loved it, way less stressful.

Thanks for taking our photo Sean!!:)PINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGE

Love the look on Ephram’s face here. He was mesmerized by his sweet little friend Stori singing happy birthday to him!!PINIMAGEPINIMAGE

Our pup Conrad. He died this past weekend and things just haven’t been the same since. Going back and editing old photos with him in them has been heart wrenching. I miss him.PINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGE

Granna & Paw-Paw made it to the party a little late so of course we had to sing and blow out candles again.:)PINIMAGE

Last month was the start of a blog circle project with six other amazing photographers. A day in the life. I was instantly hooked on the idea of posting a bit of my life, once a month, with these ladies. A way to document the beauty of the everyday as a mommy and be kept accountable to do so. It is so much more than that now, I’ve gained some of the best friendships! I’m so thankful to be a part of this.

I love early morning light. What I love even more is watching my babies play together in that light. At one point I looked up to find Oren sitting in the perfect spot of it while making yet another list for Christmas. He doesn’t just write down the things he wants, he draws an image to go along with it. He also made a list for Santa with ideas for his baby brother’s gift since Ephram cannot write one. That boy can be really sweet.

It was peaceful, and quiet, and beautiful. For the most part.

They really do play well together, but there are certainly those moments when one just cannot help himself and needs to destroy what the other is working on. Usually Ephram, being a typical toddler, is ransacking anything Oren tries to build. Today, as you will see, it was Oren. Ephram pouted for a little bit after and then marched on with his task.

About a month ago I was asked to join a group of 5 inspiring lifestyle photographers for a project, to blog once a month about a day in our lives. I instantly wanted to be a part of it, pushing me to take the time to document my growing little ones daily lives. I get so busy with everything else that it takes a backseat. Always taking the photos but never doing anything with them. I am happy to end that cycle today with the start of our “a day in the life” blog circle.

This month I documented just a few moments in a typical weekday for us. Cartoons before school. A quick trip to target for a few necessities. Brothers wrestling – Ephram misses Oren when he’s at school. Playing outside while waiting for daddy to make it home. Bath time.

I’m looking forward to what’s to come from this.
