Houston Newborn Lifestyle Photographer | Heirloom Props
My how time flies! It seems just like yesterday I was this sweet girl’s Houston Newborn Lifestyle Photographer, capturing a little newborn baby girl. Now she’s a whole year older and even more beautiful, if that’s even possible!
When clients ask me if they need to bring props to a session I usually tell them no, as my studio space in Houston is filled with so many options. I enjoy working with my clients to find out what props and design details will create the perfect session for them, and I may already have something in my studio that will work for them.
However, when someone has something special, such as an heirloom, I really love incorporating this piece in their photos. These vintage items have sentimental value for the family and can add another dynamic layer to a photography session. In the past I’ve seen clients bring in vintage outfits and special teddy bears from their childhood. This family brought in a cherished quilt that has been around for decades. The star pattern is so playful and was perfect for their newborn daughter’s photos. We decided to reuse this vintage quilt for her 1 year session as well. She looks so cozy in her baby blue knitted outfit, which is available in my studio wardrobe, on the soft vintage cloth of the quilt. The quilt made our Houston area studio even cozier for the time we got to spend with this sweet little one and her family.
Are you thinking of using a vintage heirloom piece in your family’s photos? I recommend talking to your photographer to brainstorm how you can use these pieces to add that touch of history and nostalgia to your session!
